"Nadine" 60" x 60" Oil on Masonite 1994.
I came across a great book at the Brooklyn Public Library. It was
on the subject of early American Tin Type photographs.
It was the inspiration to paint "Nadine". I
appreciate antiquity and am fond of old time scenes. I have painted several
works based on sepia toned, tin type photos. Applying
color from my imagination. I am considered to be a Tonalist, in my approach to realism in painting, with color there is also
tone. The original tin-type appeared to have been a huge family reunion. The romantic Riverboat and then there's a dog on a
plank.
